The Chan lab are currently undertaking the questions regarding to how cancer cells evolve to escape the attack of conventional cancer therapies and how these drug-resistant cancer cells spread and metastasize to the other part of human body in addition to the original sites of occurrence. Her group uses a series of complementary approaches including biochemical studies, preclinical animal models and clinical specimens to address these clinically important questions. Studies by Dr. Chan have led to the development of novel and exciting cancer therapeutics for which a patent has been applied and clinical translation is being pursued.
